UK to Sell HMS Ocean to Brazil

The MOD has agreed to sell HMS Ocean to the Government of Brazil after 20 years of service.   Sold to the Brazilian Navy for around £84M ($117m), the profit generated from the sale will be reinvested in defence at a time when the Royal Navy is being strengthened with two types of brand new frigates and two huge aircraft carriers.

GTT Bags Order for Three LNG Carriers, One Bunkering Vessel

 GTT announces it has received several orders, since the beginning of the year, for the equipment of three LNG Carriers (LNGCs) and one bunkering vessel.   The three LNGCs, offering capacities ranging from 174,000 to 180,000 m3, will be built at Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI)’s.

Ocean Yield Acquires Two Handysize Dry Bulkers

 Norwegian shipowner  Ocean Yield announced that 100% owned subsidiaries of the Company has agreed to acquire two 2018 built handysize dry bulk vessels with 12-year bareboat charters to companies owned and guaranteed by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group (LDA).    The net cash purchase price is USD 18 million per vessel after a seller's credit.

Philly Shipyard Order Backlog Touches USD 187.7 mln

 Northern Offshore announces it has sold its semisubmersible Energy Driller to an unnamed party for conversion to alternative use.     The unit had previously been cold stacked at a shipyard in Bahrain following completion of a term drilling contract in India.  Northern Offshore previously sold the drillship Energy Searcher in late 2016.
